My lovely love love and I are thinking about getting a dog. We are thinking about a lot of things though. New condo perhaps, moving perhaps; it is christmas and there is always a miryad of things. But a dog! I do love the dog concept. For a second opinion see my buddy Paul’s blog re Tempodog.
That Paul sure loves his dog. So here is the Dog of choice. A Westhighland Terrier. Good for apartments, not hyper but still really active and cute.
Well at the risk of making this spot a dogblog. I will leave you with the photo and bid you good day.
Good day.

Gads,
You know, I am plagued by business ideas and I am starting to get frustrated by my inability to carry things out. Ok, having ideas cannot be compared to swarms of locusts, rivers of blood or any actual PLAGUE, but still ‘out out damn jot!’ ya know? The ideas are all product based generally and vary from importing consumer soap products to distributing recycled cotton nappies as industrial rags.
Here is the crux: as I am not possessed of bags o’ cash, any of my ideas need financing. To gain this financing, one produces a business plan. These are very useful documents to create because they not only clearly display your intentions to your investers, but they also force the entrepreneur to face up to potential problems.
So what is the problem, you say? The first one is that the research needed to create this document necessitates a committment of time that borders on a full time job (one of which I already have, thanks). The second is that you need certain sums of money to be able to undertake the research in the first place. Consider the following dialogue:
Hmm, for the business plan, I need to identify potential customers, their possible consumption and extrapolate my total sales volume from that.
But the customer will not indicate interest or volume with out samples and,
The statistics needed to extrapolate from this possible customer to the market as a whole are a) proprietary and b) prohibitively expensive. So shelling out for design, shipping, sample making and research is holding me back just now.
And yet new ideas and products just keep on coming.
I know I will be able to over come this trouble. I have some folks already willing to invest in a good idea once the business plan is done but the long process of getting there is still a bear.
Where are you on this? Any thoughts? I know I am not the only one to think the business thoughts and for some it is movies or tv shows. I can get it past stage one or two but finishing the business plan is so far the brick wall. I just have not yet found a way to glean the required information.
We will see.

Cake
Short Skirt, Long Jacket
I want a girl with a mind like a diamond
I want a girl who knows what’s best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes
I want a girl with the right allocations
Who’s fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack
She’s playing with her jewelry
She’s putting up her hair
She’s touring the facilities
And picking up the slack
I want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket.
I want a girl who gets up early
I want a girl who stays up late
I want a girl with uninterrupted prosperity
Who uses a machete, to cut her red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tainted glass
She is fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack
She’s touring the facilities and picking up the slack
I want a girl with a short skirt and a long, long jacket
I want a girl with smooth liquidation
I want a girl with the right dividends
At City Bank we will meet accidentally
We’ll start to talk when she borrows my pen
She wants a car with a cupholder armrest
She wants a car that will get her there
She’s changing her name
From Kitty to Karen
She’s trading her MG for a white Chrysler LeBaron
I want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket

Well that is it. I’m done. I do not need any holly, fruitcake or carols. I have everything I need for Christmas
Sun 11 Dec 2005
I would love to say that this was my profession and I spent my days seriously contemplating the movement of coins from one side of the carpet to the other but alas I do not get to play with the 10″ Tonkas on a regular basis. This shot captures me playing with my son Solomon on a rainy day. A wonderful rainy day.
I don’t get to spend a lot of time with Sol and the time I do spend with him is often complicated by willful obstruction (not on Sol’s part, he is angel… well he is also a 4 year old boy but you get the picture). The point is I don’t get a lot of time to truly p-l-a-y. I think this is a deep need in men even in grampa age and forgetting the need is a sad thing.
Play. It comes out in me. At work things get too busy and stressfull for any human being to possibly cope with. How exactly do you handle the global distribution of three brands with a shoestring budget while being loaded down with mountains of paperwork (irrelevant to your job function but foisted on you) and with no business software, access to data adn modern communications? Yet when things are getting hairy and before I have a snarly pissed off breakdown (usually around 5pm, sorry my love), I usually look up and think to myself “gee this is fun. how exciting.”
I make up silly songs with dumb jokes in the lyrics. I sneek behind corners and scare the bee jesus put of my patient fiance. I then tickle her blue. (again with the patient fiance).
I do not see the 28 year old girls behaving thusly. I see them acting confident, coarse and brash in the hopes that this will allow them to seem like they are their own people, (good for them for trying it is for a good cause but you wont see me flexing and swearing in competition). Perhaps it is just the little boy in the man.
My dad has the whole thing also. He is a painter and this is part of it but he is all with the teasing and dancing and cheeky rhymes.
Well I am satisfied. Thanks for the time and if any of you see me getting toys for Sol and think “hey that is way too much” remember, he knows how to share.
