Blogging /-osphere

If you look at the top of this page, you may find pleasing to the eye a pair of planes. These Harbour Air seaplanes were photographed by talented Briana and she very graciously applied them to the front bumper of this web-log.

At that time she and I lived not three blocks from where these planes and others of their ilk could be seen idling at all hours of the day and night, should one care to see them. They would fly in from parts unknown (or Nanaimo) and land in Coal Harbour and disgorge their folk onto the dock.

Once, the seaplane became engorged with the very photographer who took the above photos only to deposit her into the waiting arms of her fuzzy lover in Victoria last November. Ahh, la Bree en Rose. Romantique, c’est vrai?

Now however, we live no longer by the sea and all of its aircraft but rather on the roaring Fraser River, at the Quay, in New Westminster. It would be dishonest to continue associating myself with these high-flyers now that I’m a burb-blogger. I need a new photo, I need a make-over.

Papa needs a brand new bag!

But what? What image can hold the front line and convey all that is -me- and -New Westminster- and -the Fraser River-. Skytrain? No, too in-other-suburbs-as-well. The Tin Soldier at the Quay? No too, um , too irrelevant.

Give us a hint, guv?

I have a passionate, immediate need to blog and yet nothing is currently in the forefront of my mind to post about. I really want all of my posts to be “on message” or topically coherent. I have read and enjoyed blog points that are meandering or more personal but I have never posted thus. Until now I guess.

I have just finished the Vancouver Boat Show where I represented the company I work for and spearheaded their efforts to sell more stoves, heaters and BBQs to boaters. Hum. Endless yacking to peoples of various intelligences and politeness. Endless belly-aches, the same questions. The same sales pitch. Briana said I was talking in my sleep last night telling her about the three year warranty. Yes, yes darling, warranty, hmmmn.

I have a dog. He is a puppy. His name is Wagner. He is a Schnauser. See below posts and Bree’s Bopping. He doesn’t really bark. He likes people. He behaves in a typically puppy like way.

Bree is talking to Sharon here in the ‘Banff Apts’ . They are yaking away about shoes and hair colour and boys and feelings and other et ceteras. Aparently this someone has a low tolerance for men and treats them in this certain way and that is perhaps not the best thing and although they disagree with this behavior, they can relate.

Spinny Birds.

No seriously. We are getting a puppy tommorrow morning and he is a miniature schnauser. Darren Barefoot has comments relating to this breed with wich I totally agree. And further:

I believe that’s the minimum size of dog a man can walk without handing over his testicles.

And a much celebrated ‘name that schnauser‘ event is happening on Breebop.

I am just pleased as punch. And by the way; my German? That is about as gut as it goetz.

Monte Solberg has a blog and I am pretty sure he writes it himself. Mostly sure anyway. It seems honest, sometimes plain, sometimes funn, sometimes partisan, sometimes about his dog but I really get a different sense of him than, lets say, on Don Newman’s Politics. Here, a snippit:

Its January and people in Calgary are wearing t-shirts and shorts. Yes, this is what the weather will be like under a Stephen Harper government.

C’mon. Thats funny.

I link to him now. He is my overlord. (yes master)

So here is a post about posting. I have been posting more often lately and I feel like a bad cover to Franz Ferdinand song (postie postie I’m so postie!) except about blogging. I have been able to get the gumption to sit down and be temporarily creative. Good for me. This can make for an interesting web space but not for real inspiration. I sit down, think it up and spit it out but the posts, they are episodic. A real piece of writing needs work and more thought than an evening and two glasses of whiskey. Bree does it sometimes on the Origi-bopand I see examles of it on Jason’s Blog and Gillian’s.

Perhaps we can see a little improvement or more complex posts in the future.

Ok, So here is the Blog for William Tomkinson!

Som may say “So what gives? What is with the blog under the breebop name?” The answer is quite simply, because it can happen! It can happen in a moment as an add on with out my having to worry about the format, wallpaper or suchlike. I just write.

I am rewarded thusly: “Good for you dear” and encouraged thusly “When is your next blog post”, or ” why don’t you post about…”.And for you gentle readers, you can only benefit. I am not under a shadow but under the sun.

This leads to the focus of the blog. Anything underthe sun. I may read a book, attend a concert, have a thermonuclear fit; here is where I may record and share my impressions.

Most of you will link from www.breebop.com. I do hope you enjoy your digression.
